When paperwork starts to make us a little batty,
we look for an outlet. No? Not everyone? Oh.
Okay, well, when paperwork makes *me* a little batty,
I look for an outlet, which usually means:
- reading ebooks and blogs [with music]…
- decorating and design [with music]…
- plus a two-hour dance workout with [good] music.
During today's reading, I found a cute little story about
a new public art display in a town a little north of Rome.
First of all, you might remember that a couple months ago,
an anarchist artist dropped hundreds of thousands of colorful balls
down the Spanish Steps of Rome.
Each one of the 500,000 colorful balls is supposed to represent a lie told by a politician.
To add to the long list of quirky Italian public-art projects,
now someone decided to patch the ancient walls of an old-Italian town -with legos.
Yes, patch ancient walls with Legos.
At which point the grammar-police came forward
to point-out that it's not "Legos" but "Lego"
since "Lego" is actually the plural form of the word.
Really? Oh-oh.
That's when it all started.
- It's "Lego", damn it!
And:
- Lego. Bloody Americans.
Which was, of course, followed by another reader's:
- LEGOS. Crazy Europeans.
Then, how could we miss the Latin-Science fan:
- Legi.
Legi, legos, lego…. Let.go!
Either way, I had a giggle with my coffee this morning.
Notice I said music, blogs and design? Yup.
I've been busy working on the extra Java code for this blog,
as you will notice from the mouseover movement over the sidebar and links.
Yup. I've fallen in love with Java, and even learned how to make the gif animations myself.
Since I am getting a nice camera to take pictures of Rome, I will be using my alloted blog-time to design a new background image for this blog so pictures can stand out better, but I'll leave Tess' css code intact. Needless to say, it's a lot of work, but worth it.
I've been told that I have to incorporate a lot of white to make pictures "POP."
So, I'll figure out how to do that, and keep this blog unique, then, I'll get back to daily posts…

I love the repair made with “legos”
It’s fantastic! Thanks for showing it to us.
I loved the colorful ball display and saw many photos of it when it happened…but I never have seen the Lego project! I love it too
These pictures are fantastic!! And your blog just keeps getting better and better!
BTW…..I love these little emoticons!
Great pictures and wonderful story, I love the Lego pics, what a brilliant idea! And I think it is just ‘Lego’ actually since it’s a brand, the Lego pieces are ‘bricks’, produced in Denmark so ‘us Europeans’ know better *hehe*
Love the mouse-over!
I love the look of your blog and the *Lego* pics are great, I missed that in the news but I have been keeping my head in the sand lately. Looking forward to the changes!
And these emoticons are amazing!
Your blog is certainly unique. I love coming here.
Thanks for the explanation on the Lego thing. Of course when I was three and yelling: where are my legos?? I didn’t know
Oh my God, I just noticed you have the Village People on Smileys!! I love this place!!!
When I saw those balls roll down the stairs in Rome I was amazed. I wanted to post them on my blog but didn’t find a picture right away. The Lego repairs are genius!
Do you have any good reference sites for the largely java-illiterate like myself? Make that completely java-illiterate. I’ve barely got a handle on html and need to play with a second blog on Wordpress.
Very cool post. I think the legos would ruin my expectations of quaint little towns in Europe, but that’s probably a good thing. :-)
Okay, I’m not anonymous! I posted it before putting in my info:)
Hey, just realized you have comment karma, too, but I can’t click on the icons…is it just me? Otherwise, I fixed this problem on my blog by changing the “domain” part of the code in the header with my URL.
Can I tell you I lol at the legoS? Hilarious and soooo creative!
I just wish I could have been there when the person thought “I know how to patch this up! Lego!”
Love and hugs and smiles………
Love those lego’s.
Blesssings
Ciao~
Great pictures! I loved the story too
Java, that’s coffee, right?! Love the blog, love the lego. Wish we’d thought of it when we started work here!
The legos are genius. I love random city art.
Che figo! That’s awesome your learning Java! I need to start learning some more technical computer skills! So I’m assuming you moved to Rome at this point? I remember about hearing about the “art displays” in Rome when I was in Italy too bad he got arrested :/ I guess he made the Carabinieri work too much ! eheh baci!!
Happy Canada Day, Roaming girl!
I know you’re not Canadian, but I am, and that’s all that’s neccessary.
I think you mean JavaScript not Java
they are both different languages with different purposes
